See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

Good morning! I’ve given this some thought, and after fourteen odd months of having the same url, I’ve decided to change to my main username, iotaaurigae.

I made this blog in 2019 under an entirely different name, but changed it to alkabarchive when I peaked in March 2022. I wanted to be active within radblr without going by my primary online name, which I thought would keep me somewhat anonymous in the event that someone who I didn’t want to know I was a radfem stumbled across my blog. However, it would still be linked to said primary online username in a way - Iota Aurigae is a star, and Al Kab is just a moniker for it, which is a pretty decent metaphor for me.

I’ve had some things happen within the last year that have eliminated the need for an alternate username, namely that a lot of the people who I didn’t want to know I am a radfem, now know I’m one (with mixed reactions, of course). I used the name iotaaurigae on my Twitter account since 2020, which I’m very active within radtwt and GC spheres on, as well as my Ovarit account, which I wasn’t as worried about people finding. I’d like some consistency with my name across platforms, especially since I’ve started a publication under the name Iota Aurigae where I intend to post about transgender and radical feminism-related topics.

And my last reason? I’m simply tired of hiding. I do think that I should have made new accounts under a more anonymous username wherever I wanted to share my thoughts around radical feminism topics, but in the end, I don’t regret not doing that. I will not hide, I will not be silent. This is who I am.

Alkabarchive was a good name, intended to be a reference not only to my true self, but also my affinity for data hoarding. However, it was never meant to be truly permanent, and I think it’s well past time I change it.

"You can't sex skeletons, actually" is going to be what breaks me.

nidofem

Did they misidentify the bones or did they look at what was buried around them and make sexist assumptions?

Quickly.

bittermarching

Researchers: after decades of misidentifying this skeleton as male bc it was buried with weapons, we finally looked closer at the pelvis, which showed that this person was female. We then checked the dna, which confirmed that she was indeed female

TRAs: checkmate terfs 😏 this proves sexual dimorphism is fake

"Terfs": um ???

daughter-of-aletheia

Unfortunately, the solution of a german universities was:

Uni: so, some of the skeletons buried with weapons are not men as we thought.

Women: soo... women were warriors?

Headline: "Nonbinary Identities may be thousands of years old!"

okay but the idea of romance/amatonormativity as horror from an aro perspective could work so terrifyingly well

like, you wake up one day, and suddenly, there's someone else in your house. they call you honey and say they're your spouse

you don't know them. you don't remember them. but you are now legally and socially bound to them and their identity

you cannot find solitude - they are where you are, in your bed from the moment you wake up

you cannot find peace - they are bound to you in a million little ways, from photos you cannot delete from your phone to a name you can't remove from your accounts

you try to look to the other people in your life for help, for clarity, but they all accept this relationship as fact

and what's worse, all the people you had truly given your heart to - your friends, your family, your partners - have inexplicably distanced themselves from you, out of some misplaced reverence for your romantic relationship

they tell you to talk to your spouse. they tell you it's not their place to get in the middle of this. they tell they've never seen a love like yours - and it'll all work out in the end

you look in the face of this stranger in your house and know in your heart you've never seen a love like this either

Anonymous asked:

Right, but I'm not the one allying with religious right males - you are. Abortion was worth it to sacrifice to stick it to the troons. Lol.

pineapplerightsideupcake answered:

Let me use very small words here.

Right wing: men should act like tough men and women should be subservient. Those trans freaks are going against god and nature!

Trans activists: women are inherently feminine and submissive so if you’re submissive and like pink and dresses that makes you a woman!

Radical feminism: men and women are biological categories that have zero to say about your personality or preferences. Both the right wing and trans activists think there is a wrong way to be female and male. Both are wrong.

I vote democrat. I don’t know what allying you think I’m doing. And do you know who will never ever need an abortion? A trans woman.

iotaaurigae

How would the TRAs know that the right wingers aren’t seeking out allies in us? We’re always accused of siding with conservatives over this issue, but conservatives are never accused of siding with feminists. I wonder why…

My ideal street layout, wide sidewalk, wide bike lanes, and a 2 lane road that only allows streetcars on it. Yes I know this a bad drawing, I made it in a hurry

image
eaglehorn

Are those (black circles w/ small things) supposed to be eg cafe chairs?

If so, they’re posing an accessibility issue due to blocking the sidewalks. Recommend your street layout allow for outdoor seating without blocking sidewalks.

kithpendragon

Agreed. The foundation is sound, but there needs to be plenty of space to walk by seating without getting run over by a bike. Seating that hugs the walls of the nearby structure, and open storefronts that let people and services flow seamlessly between the commercial spaces and the sidewalks would be an improvement here.

amtrak-official

I actually shrunk the seating to make there be more space for pedestrians

If the tracked area is for trams/streetcars only, may I recommend that you make it green track?

image

Not only does it add much needed greenery to public spaces, but it also reduces heat at street level, reduces the running noise of trams and dramatically improves water drainage at street level. It even goes as far as reducing the damage to the tracks caused by the material expanding and buckling in high heat by simply keeping the rails cooler and better displacing heat.

image

It doesn't even have to be grass! Different species of plant, local species or hardier, low-maintenance species can be used, and furthermore, it tends to reduce maintenance costs of the tracks, as soil is easier to dig up than concrete or tarmac, and so the tracks can be accessed and worked on easier.

Obviously, if you want the street to be able to accept buses along with trams/streetcars, or other rubber-tyred vehicles, then a hard surface is necessary, but if it's light rail only, then green track gets my vote.

amtrak-official

Already made the edit, I hope you enjoy the green tracks and their flowers. This image is very green

amtrak-official

Redoing the color of the bike path to make the street less fucking green

image
adler11

I love the idea of green tracks, but in this case they are not a good choice:

You still need the possibility for rubber based vehicles like Fire Cars or Ambulances to pass the streets.

You can't just put them on tracks because they need to be as mobile as possible to allow maximum efficency.

amtrak-official

Okay removing the grass due to firecodes

image
aitotsakirimori

Urbanism pride flag lol

we still need green so maybe put flowerpots in the middle of the sidewalk? Like rectangular ones that only take up maybe a fifth of the sidewalk width, and their intermittent, maybe one between every other set of trees.

amtrak-official

The street planters have come in

image
ciceronian

Honestly if you want some good green space you should consider bioswales between the bike facilities and the "street", which would help replace some of the lost drainage/filtration function from de-greening the track

amtrak-official

The bios have been swaled

When I worked as a cleaner in people's homes I was almost aIways called because the woman of the house had fallen sick or gotten a severe injury and the man refused to clean anything. I'd come in and immediately see women in wheelchairs or wearing a cast, severely disabled after surgery, something like that. All of them in severe pain, all of them feeling overwhelmed by all the unattended chores that their husbands refused to do. Some women just felt like it was normal for them to call another woman to clean up after their man, convinced that he just didn't know how to or shouldn't have to because he's a man. Others were just tired of living in the ever growing filth. It was always the women who welcomed me into the house, explained where things were and what I should do. A lot of the men were simply napping all the time, locking themselves in their bedrooms, chilling in front of the TV or by the pool. One tried to plug in the iron for me and shaked his head saying "I just don't know how this thing works, sorry". That man had been married for at least 20 years to this poor woman with a broken foot. So for 20 years he had a maid ironing all his clothes for free. 20 fucking years. Imagine that, sisters, for 20 years someone irons your clothes, or cooks for you, cleans up after you. Imagine. The amount of selfishness and egotism one would need to be like "yeah, this person acts like my servant and I totally take advantage of it". Is that love? The love heterosexuals keep going on about? The love women can't live without? As I left, he told me not to unplug the iron because his wife was going to try to iron while sitting down since she has a broken foot and the clothes are piling up. And I was like... why don't you do it yourself??? But I didn't say anything because I needed a job. It was the situation for 90% of the clients I had. And seeing this exact same pattern every day, seeing how these women lived with those men, because that's the kind of job that really allows you to see people's intimate lives you know? Well it really comforted me and my choice not to date men. I'd go home and absolutely relish my celibacy.
